The more research I do, the more I don’t like the store-bought almond milk. First of all, the packaging is wasteful. Second of all, the ingredients are less-than clean. I don’t like all the man-made mineral and vitamin additives or the thickeners and sweeteners. They make me cringe.
But I also don’t like spending an hour a day making my own! So I came up with a solution…
Here’s an easy and quick way to make some almond milk without any soaking or straining!
Lazy Man’s Almond Milk
1 cup filtered water
1 heaping T. almond butter
Pinch of salt
Dash of vanilla extract (about 1/2 t.)
Optional: 3 drops liquid stevia or 1 heaping t. raw honey
Blend all ingredients together on high for 2030 seconds. Keeps 1-2 days in the fridge. Shake or re-blend before using.
Chocolate milk variation:
In addition the ingredients above, add:
1 T. + 1 t. of cacao powder
1 heaping t. raw honey
1 pinch sea salt
6 ice cubes to chill the milk if desired (or you can put it in the fridge)
Follow the same directions as above. Keeps 1-2 days in the fridge. Shake or re-blend before using.
Strawberry milk variation:
In addition to the almond milk ingredients, add:
An additional t. of honey
4-5 frozen or fresh strawberries
Follow the same directions as above.
Have you made almond milk this way before? How did it work for you?
