December Member of the Month: Nita Pettibone

    MOTM-12-2012

IHCA: What is your definition of “Success”?

NP: The day my 9 year old son came to me and said “I’m proud of you Mom, you’re going to help a lot of people” was the day I realized that I am already successful.

IHCA: Why did you join the International Health Coach Association LLC?

NP: I joined the International Health Coach Association LLC to learn and grow as a coach while meeting others with the same passion for spreading wellness love.

IHCA: Do you have any special knowledge, stories or experiences within the health coaching field that you could share to help fellow health coaches reach their goals?.

NP: My biggest tip for workshops is to make them your own.  I find that many coaches ask for content, buy content or use pre-written materials from their education.  There is nothing wrong with that, but when you make a workshop or class your own it is easier to remember, easier to speak to and easier for people to believe.  I feel like there is more passion in a class that you created from scratch than one that was memorized.   People will feel that passion in your voice and make the connection which creates a more interactive experience.

IHCA: What marketing technique do you utilize with the most success? Can you tell us more about how you use this marketing technique?

NP: My best marketing technique right now is just being myself.   I walk the walk, talk the talk, share when I’ve failed and share my successes.  Sure I use social media, on-line advertising, networking events and festivals, but “just being me” brings more questions and interest about my business than all of those combined.  To go along with that advice is to do things that you love.  By getting out there and doing the things you love to do via online groups and in person, you will attract the people that you love to work with.  It is a win/win.

IHCA: Can you tell us about your proudest or most exciting moment as a health coach?

NP: Absolutely!  I have so many moments, but the first that stands out as a health coach was when a client texted me from a meal to tell me her food choices.  This was a turning point that changed her life with awareness of how food made her feel and only the beginning of the transformation that occurred

IHCA: Do you have any fun/interesting hobbies that have grown from your interest in holistic health?

NP: I love making my own body care, sick bug relief and home care products using simple ingredients.  I am also a smoothie and juicing addict and have to give a shout out to my CrossFit friends that encouraged me to give it a try as a fitness routine that literally changed my life.

IHCA: What is your favorite meal to cook for yourself?

NP: OOh, this is a tough question.  I’d have to say salads, which aren’t cooked, but I love all types of salads.   I guess my favorite cooked meal right now is a macadamia nut tomato sauce over spaghetti squash.

IHCA: What activities or thoughts keep you motivated and moving forward with your goals and dreams?

NP: My mission is to help people find their way through health, wellness and happiness.  That is my constant motivation.  Every time I hear of someone diagnosed with diabetes, heart disease, cancer, chronic ear infections, asthma, digestive issues, migraines or obesity, I am reminded of my mission.  I see busy Moms sending their kids off with food, while they go all day without eating.  I see executives with ailing health, yet the bottom-line is their biggest concern and I see too many kids suffering from ailments that could be avoided.  My motivation is to look around me each day and know that what I’m doing will make a difference to someone.
