How To Make A Basic Green Smoothie

Green smoothies can be made with so many different fruits and vegetables. You just need to know the correct ratio of fruit to vegetable to water so you can then go ahead and use up whatever produce you have on hand.

This recipe is a template that you can use to create your own green smoothie flavors.

All you have to do is plug your favorite fruits and veggies into the ingredient list below.

Use fruits and veggies that are growing in your area this time of year – eating locally is good for your body and for the planet.

    Basic Green Superfood Smoothie

    Serves 1

    1 1/2 c. water
1 c. of water-rich or soft vegetables, like cucumber, celery or avocado
1 c. frozen or fresh fruit, like pineapple, apple, berries or banana
1 large handful green leafy vegetables (like spinach, mint, kale or romaine)
1 Tbs. of honey or 6 drops stevia extract
Dash of vanilla extract and pinch of sea salt (for amazing flavor)
Superfood of choice: ¼ tsp. spirulina, ½ tsp. camu or 1 tsp. bee pollen
Optional: 1 Tbs. nut butter (for a creamier smoothie)

Blend all ingredients together on high until smooth. Add more water if needed. Enjoy!
