    Fire Cider

    Fire Cider

    Makes 2 quarts

    I first started hearing about Fire Cider from some of our Take Back Your Health™ Conference speakers a few years ago. We really just started making it at home for ourselves in the last year though. It’s great for clearing sinuses, supporting immunity, and getting a sluggish digestive system moving again! This recipe is inspired by the Fire Cider recipe that Leslie and Lyndsay from Cultural Revivalists teaches at our events!

    Ingredients:

    • 1 orange, sliced into thin circle
    • 1 lemon, sliced into thin circles
    • 1 lime, sliced into thin circles
    • 2 inch piece of fresh ginger root, finely grated
    • 2 inch piece of fresh turmeric root, finely grated
    • 1 onion, peeled and roughly chopped
    • 1 head of garlic cloves, peeled and roughly chopped
    • 1 jalapeno pepper, sliced into circles, seeds removed
    • 1 Tbs. minced horseradish root

    Directions:

    1. Layer each ingredient into a half-gallon (2 qt. glass jar)
    2. Fill the jar with organic raw apple cider vinegar
    3. Cover with a thin cloth napkin and then screw on the lid (the cloth is to prevent the vinegar from eroding the aluminum lid).
    4. Allow to sit in room temperature for 6 weeks or more.
    5. Strain and pour into a clean glass jar(s). Keeps well in the fridge for many months.
    6. Enjoy 1-2 oz (or more) all throughout the year, whenever you need a pick-me-up or an immune boost!
